Safe household cleaning
So it claims to kill 99.9% of germs but what about the 0.01% that got away?
We appear to have a morbid fear of germs; we wish to kill them, zap them, spray them and wash them away but is all this germ bashing wise? If the adverts are anything to go by, we are to destroy them NOW by weilding some, alarmingly brightly, coloured spray (that would remove barnacles off boats whilst turning little boys into girls) but I actually think we are wise to look more carefully.
With so many bottles on our supermarket
shelves, it is a challenge to know what to choose to clean the
house. I have an exceptionally dull shopping basket, when it
comes to cleaning; white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
We spend a lot of time in our homes, especially in Winter, many have windows completely closed, allowing little daily air circulation. A closer inspection of many cleaners actually shows a warning stating 'use in a well ventilated area', whatever that is gauged on!
So what is an alternative safe, non-toxic household cleaner?
I like a blend of bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar, a drop of essential oil mixed with water. I have a recipe for you: 'Household cleaning'.
It is also imperative to become aware of what we are using to clean the bath tub as well as what we use on our skin. We also have to think of food preparation areas and how we clean them, there is little point eating organic food if we are using a toxic household cleaner on a kitchen bench! With numerous studies now showing that unborn babies absorb what the mother uses on her skin, consideration must be given to what cleaning products to choose.
I use BioPure which is a probiotic household cleaner, a good bacteria solution which is easy to use and works seriously well. I have used it for two years now and love it, it is economical too, as I last bought a bottle of the BioPure concentrate about six months ago and it is still going! I simply mix the concentrate with some filtered water in a spray bottle and it's ready to clean. The mixed solution lasts about a month.
Cleaning need not be complicated!
