What is Our Purpose in Life?

We are all created equal and deserve to be treated with respect.  We all have something to offer life regardless of the stories we may tell ourselves.

roadI feel that we all have amazing potential and can achieve what we set our mind to. The mind is a powerful tool and one to be used wisely.  The road of life if not always straight but it provides us with experiences that looking back we often can appreciate.

A quote I have enjoyed for years is:

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." Philippians 4.v8

"I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse."  ...God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies."

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4.v13

Life's Ups & Downs

rainbowLife has ups and downs and there are days when it is a challenge to even imagine light at the end of the tunnel but just because we can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Sometimes when one reaches rock bottom we meet the rock at the bottom and realise that there are bigger things at work that what we see in our immediate surroundings.  That is where faith and trust come in... not always easy to have but we all have a purpose in life.

My prayer for you, is that you ask to have that revealed and can walk the path fulfilling your life's purpose.  God has great things planned for you!  This short video below has a fun way of looking at faith.

On Being Quiet

Spending time each day being quiet, listening to the sounds of nature, or just the silence restores our soul, some call it meditating, others refer to it as prayer and it is the very act of just being, in the moment, resting, waiting, observing and being aware that allows our body, mind, spirit and emotions to reconnect..refresh us.

prayIt is not always easy with the modern day demands to rest and recouperate but the days when I do take time to 'breathe' before the day starts... I feel so much better.

Taking time for you to just 'be' is not a waste of time. Like the oxygen mask on an aeroplane, we have to put on our own mask before helping anyone else.

Nurturing ourself is vital to then be able to live our lives serving others. Even Jesus took much time to sit, be still and pray.  He often walked on his own and was quiet.

If you feel overwhelmed with the tasks and demands on your life, maybe taking time to nurture yourself will refresh you to handle the tasks with more energy.

On Prayer

"I got up early one morning and rushed right into the day;

I had so much to accomplish that I didn't take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task,

"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.  He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty but the day toiled on gray and bleak;

I wondered why God didn't show me- He said "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's present; I used all my keys at the lock,

God gently and lovingly chided, "My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning, and paused before entering the day;

I had so much to accomplish that I had to take time to pray."
